The climb

Scale her walls spiked and gnarled

Plastered with life’s scars and scabs

Peel back her layers of beautiful paper

Find stories there written in blood

Lay bare her mysterious darkside

But Beware beyond there be dragons

You think Easy ? I tell you not

Her scabs bleed hurt when knocked

Papered cracks give way under foot

Choose carefully where you tread

For stain you, they will, and you will remember

Your own bitter scars and scabs

Your knowing a map, a compass and guide

Placing your heart in her head

Scale gently my friend as you climb unafraid

Step softly as you go on your way.

Cover with kindness the ugly, grotesque

Sooth with compassion and stay.

Solidarity heals the broken and lost

Bringing joy and delight in its wake

Thus beautiful people God put on this earth

Like flowers in a barren landscape
